10/10. I stayed in 6 hotels during my stay in Japan and this was the best one. If you're looking to stay in a more regular hotel, rather than an expensive fancy traditional hotel for thousands of dollars. This is your best bet. Very kind and friendly staff at the counter, with a nice and relaxing breakfast option in the morning. The outside balcony next to the breakfast area (lobby) is a nice little area to chat and even smoke as you overlook the streets and shops (1 floor above ground). We headed to the hotel a couple hours before check in to drop our bags off but they had rooms available which they kindly offered to let us check in early. I had an individual room with a double or queen size bed and there was plenty of space in the hotel compared to others I have tried (Japanese hotel room size can be quite small). I would highly recommend getting a room to yourself as it is always worth it. Bathroom - it was very nice and the overall aesthetic of the wooden bathroom door felt traditional but modern. It was quite spacious compared to other hotels. Location - as activities in Kyoto such as the shrines, shopping area, and clubs are quite spread out, it's fairly close to the areas you will visit in Kyoto so you can walk, uber/taxi, or use public transport to get to your desired area for the day. Cleanliness - the hotel was very clean and classy. Breakfast option - nice relaxed environment for a coffee/breakfast. I chose the eggs benedict for breakfast but I cannot remember the other option/s. My room had different light fixtures which could be individually adjusted to fit your mood/preference. Overall - I think the customer service and the quality you get for this price was definitely worth it and exceeded my expectations. I'll stay here again next time I am in Kyoto. This is a hidden gem for sure.

The location of this hotel is great! It is located on a main street, easy accessible from the subway or buses. Upon arriving and throughout our stay, the staff was always very kind and able to help us. We were staying here over new year's, and were having lots of trouble finding a restaurant, so the staff tried their best to help us, very kind! The rooms itself can be small, but we did have one twin room which was very spacious. However, the double were rooms were not nearly as small as our stay in Tokyo, and there was still enough space to move around and put our luggage. The lobby/library area is nice too, you are allowed to bring your own food into the lobby and chill there whenever. Definitely would recommend!

The hotel looks quite new. The rooms are spacious (for Japanese hotels that is). We got a welcome drink voucher (matcha latte, but can be replaced with a soft drink) that could be used on any days. Bathroom amenities (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner) were quite nice. They were the same Japanese brand that a high-end ryokan provided. Location is halfway between Kyoto station (10 minute walk) and Kawaramachi shopping district. There are some places to eat nearby, but overall is a quiet area. The staff was quite helpful to arrange luggage forwarding. However we would have had to drop off the luggage by 9AM a day before checkout, so we did not use the service.

All of staff were so nice and incredibly helpful with everything. They were so attentive and also brought their nice personalities to the job. The welcome drink was a lovely little bonus. They went over and above to help us with everything. Room was excellent and very comfortable with lots of space. Separate shower/bath room and toilet. Good amenities. Good location, plenty around and easy to access everything but far enough from the noise. Hotel called an early taxi for us which was very helpful. Thank you so much to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. We will be back.

The property was very comfortable to stay in and the staff were lovely. The room was exceptional with plenty of space and made the stay even more comfortable. The location was one train station away from Kyoto station which made it easy to get around and do the things we wanted to do in Kyoto. It was also only a 5 min uber from the nightlife area in Kyoto which was really convenient for me and my friend. There was a laundromat close by which the hotel was very informed about where to go to for it and how to use. The breakfasts were enjoyed by us both during the stay.
